HOULTON, Maine — Lately we have been receiving a lot of phone calls about injured cats. We have taken in two injured cats in just the last week.
One cat, whom we have named Nora, was found by the side of the road by a very kind young lady. Nora was lethargic, emaciated and covered in fleas. She had an injury to her left front leg. Nora was seen by the vet where it was determined she was not spayed, she tested negative for aids and feline leukemia. Nora was too compromised to get her vaccinations and her front leg was bruised. She was sent back to the sanctuary to rest, gain some weight and get healthy so she can get her vaccinations and be spayed. We are hoping she is not pregnant.
CeCe came to us as a stray with a large mass on her right side. After being examined by the vet it was decided the mass has to be removed. The mass is very suspicious in nature. CeCe is scheduled for surgery Nov. 11. CeCe also tested negative for aids and feline leukemia. Because of the mass it was decided that we would wait on vaccinations. The mass will be sent away for histology. The cost of the surgery is $1,500.

At this point in time we are at capacity with about 60 cats. With that being said we will never refuse a sick or injured cat.
Year to date we have spent a little over $19,936 in vet bills and after next week we will be adding another $3,100 as we have two cats going for surgery.
Once again we are adding to our fundraising schedule. We will have a pie sale the Saturday before Thanksgiving, our final auction of the year at the end of November and a bake sale every weekend in December until Christmas.
