PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle girls basketball team improved to 4-2 on the season, winning two of three games played over the holiday.
The Wildcats beat Bucksport 59-11 on Dec. 28; defeated Winslow 54-41 on Dec. 30; and lost to Ellsworth 37-33 Jan. 1.
At Presque Isle Dec. 28, Faith Sjoberg led the Wildcats with 11 points while Courtney Kane added nine in a lopsided victory over Bucksport.
At Winslow Dec. 30, Sadie LaPointe was the top scorer with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Sjoberg added 11 points.
Hosting Ellsworth New Year’s Day, the visiting Eagles fought back from an 11-point halftime deficit to beat Presque Isle. LaPointe led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds. Presque Isle struggled from the field, shooting 9 for 49.
Morgan Clifford led the Eagles with 16 points.
