Island Falls to celebrate Winterfest Feb. 25-27

ISLAND FALLS, Maine — As part of Island Falls’ 150th birthday celebration, a community Winterfest will take place Feb. 25-27 at locations throughout the town.

The festivities will kick off Friday, Feb. 25, with a spaghetti dinner at the VFW Hall, sponsored by the Free Wheelers ATV Club.

Following the dinner, a family dance party will be held at the Island Falls Municipal Building from 6 to 8 p.m., including an opening ceremony.

On Saturday a Log Driver’s Cookout will take place at the Tingley House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring bean-hole beans, hot dogs, doughnuts, biscuits, cole slaw, potato salad and “the world’s largest coffee pot.”

A public supper will begin at 5 p.m. at the VFW Hall, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The festivities will shift to the VaJoWa Golf Course at 9 p.m. for an adult dance featuring a special musical guest.

On Sunday, Feb. 27, the town will celebrate its 150th birthday with a party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Island Falls Municipal Building. Among the many family events are carnival games, judging of the snowman competition, food and a special 150th birthday cake.  

At 6:30 p.m. a “Torch Light Snowmobile Parade” will be held starting at the VaJoWa Golf Course, followed by a fireworks display.
