115 Years Ago – Feb. 21, 1907
Sale of farm — The J.D. Kennison farm of Limestone, one of the best farms to be found in that town of good farms, was recently sold to Hopkins Bros. of Fort Fairfield for a valuable consideration.
This farm was deeded to Mr. Kennison’s father in 1863 from the state, and comprises 122 1/2 acres. Mr. Kennison will probably move to the southern part of the state.
Road trip — Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Haynes started Saturday on a trip to New York City. Mr. Haynes, in company with John F. Jerrard, will attend the Motor Boat Show in that city.
100 Years Ago – Feb. 23, 1922
In town on business — H.L. Crouse, one of the manufacturers of the J. & C. Portable Rossing machines, was in town Wednesday on business. This machine is one of the best rossing machines on the market, and is meeting with ready sales.
One of the main attractions– Lowell Fisher of Fort Fairfield will be one of the leading attractions at the carnival. He is a finished dancer and has assisted in training the young people.
75 Years Ago – Feb. 20, 1947
New dentist to open office — Roy G. Boone, D.M.D., who will open a dental office in Caribou soon, was a graduate of Tufts College, Dental School in Boston on Feb. 9, 1947. Dr. Boone is the son of Mrs. Eleanor Boone and plans to open offices at 11 North Main St., Caribou.
Near the top of insurance leaders– Jesse R. Russell of Caribou, a representative of The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York, was second on the company’s list of field underwriters in the New England States in number of paid applications for insurance during January, according to C. Herbert Burpee, manager of the Portland Agency.
25 Years Ago – Feb. 19, 1997
Staff recognized — Superintendent James Morse recognized staff for 165 years of combined service in the Limestone school system. At the faculty Christmas party last month, longtime employees were honored with gifts such as jackets and watches. Being recognized were Bob King, 30 years; Gay Bernier, 35 years; Bob Souther, Leona Michaus, Peter Beaulieu and Norma Michaud, all 25 years in the school system.
Check presented — Dolores Tarbox accepted a check from Sam Collins of the S. W. Collins Co. for the sponsor of Tutor/Student matches. The Literacy Volunteers of America-Caribou Area offers help to individuals wishing to improve their reading skills.
