The new brick building — The contract for the building of the First National Bank Mock has been let to Mr. Geo. H. Wilbur of Dark Harbor, who did the brickwork on the new school building on Bowdoin Street.
The building will be of brick with a granite front, extending the entire width of the building with a corner entrance next to the Mansur block. There will be offices in the second story, entrance to which will be from the stairway in the west side of the Mansur block, and will be occupied by the well known law firm of Madigan & Madigan. This building will be a great addition to Market Square, as well as a great convenience to the bank officials.

Junior Elks’ Ball — More than 70 youthful couples attended the annual Junior Elks Ball held at the club on Main street here Friday evening and enjoyed one of the most successful juvenile social events of the current season.
F & G Group plan for annual meeting — The executive committee of the Houlton Fish and Game Club held a regular monthly meeting at the recreation Center Thursday night, at which time amendments to the constitution of the club were considered. The club was recently reorganized and the theme of this meeting was suggestions whereby the club could benefit or improve its program and facilities in the coming year. John Hall, chairman of the program committee, and Floyd McGary chairman of the fishing committee, will be in charge of the annual affair. In addition to the program scheduled for this annual meeting will be the amendments to the constitution submitted to the members for consideration.

Jr. Girl Scouts Annual Hiking Trip — Hodgdon’s Junior Girl Scout Troop 354 held there annual winter hike Monday. With their leaders Mrs. Shirley Tidd and Mrs. Dale Clifford, the girls hiked out to Mrs. Tidd’s camp on Nickerson Lake. They cooked their meal on vagabond stoves.
The following girls worked on their gypsy and foot travelers badge; Roberta Duff, Dina Fraser, Karen Ledger, Rose Blinn, Pam Toner, Cindy Neely, Candy Scott, Jackie Tidd, Cindy Hutchinson, Cheryl Peabody, and Margaret Richards. Also, Kathy McGillicuddy, Carol Tidd, Brenda Jay, Deanna Tidd, Lynette Libby, Marjorie Boone, Annette Crawford, Sue Tidd, Carol Irish and Cindy Williams.
Serving Off Coast of Japan — Coast Guard PEtty Officer Third Class Timothy J. Blanchette, son of Mr. and Mrs. Armand J. Blanchette of Willard street, Houlton, has reported for duty at the Coast Guard station in Marcus Island southeast of Japan. A 1970 graduate of Houlton High School, he entered the Coast Guard in September of 1970.
