BANGOR, Maine — Aroostook County boys and girls basketball players will be well represented at the McDonald’s Senior All-Star games.

The top athletes in the state will gather in Bangor on Saturday, March 12, for the all-star games.

The honorees were announced Wednesday at a news conference at the Cross Insurance Center. The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches announced the Maine McDonald’s All Star teams and coaches, along with the All-State Academic Teams and Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball semifinalists.

For County schoolboys, Austin Delisle and Evan Deschaine of Fort Kent; Hunter Burpee of Southern Aroostook; and Lucas Haines of Central Aroostook were named to the Class C/D boys all star squad.

For County schoolgirl athletes, Presque Isle’s Faith Sjoberg and Mia Henderson were named to the AA/A/B North squad, while Camryn Ala of Fort Fairfield and Makayla Hartsgrove of Katahdin were named to the C/D North team.

Hartsgrove was also named to the Girls Academic All-Star team.

Instead of the 3-point contest, this year’s showcase will feature a foul shooting contest. Hodgdon siblings Anna and Walker Oliver were both selected to compete in the event.

Coaches of the year from the County were also named. They are Kelly O’Leary of Fort Kent for Class C North girls; Cliff Urquhart of Southern Aroostook for Class D North girls; and Chad Cyr of Fort Kent for Class C North boys.
