SMYRNA, Maine — The town of Smyrna held its annual town meeting Monday, March 7, with a very light turnout.
Perry Lilley and Kevin Brannen were both re-elected to three-year terms for the Board of Selectmen. The two have served the town for 33 years combined.
Smyrna Town Manager Candy Nevers said the municipal budget will remain the same as last year, which was approved at $271,439.
“We anticipate the mill rate to remain at 20.25 mills,” Nevers added. “Our bottom line is about $4,000 less than what we raised last year.”
Residents also voted to proceed with the salt sand facility project. Land was purchased on the Duck Pond Road for this project and an architect has been hired to come up with designs for it.
