CARIBOU, Maine – Athletes from throughout the history of Caribou High School will be lauded June 18 as the school holds its inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame awards ceremony.
The committee looked through numerous applications and selected 15 individuals and one team to induct for the first class.
The following individuals were selected for induction: Dwight Hunter, Gerry Duffy (posthumously), Bob Cyr (posthumously), Emery Plourde Class of 1940 (posthumously), Peter S. Kelley Class of 1959, Bruce Freme Class of 1974, Melissa (Missy) Belanger Class of 1984, Jennifer Wyman Class of 1985, Chris Funk Class of 1995, Anna Van Der Rhee (Sprague) Class of 2000, Jeffrey Alden Class of 2002, Lindsay Paradis (Burlock) Class of 2004, Monica Selander-Han Class of 2005, Russell Currier Class of 2006, and Carlin Dubay Class of 2008.
The 1969 Boys State Basketball Championship team is also being inducted. The 1969 Caribou Class LL State Championship team was the first basketball team from Caribou to win at that level.
The 2022 induction ceremony will take place at the Caribou Inn and Convention center. The evening will start with a meet and mingle at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and inductions at 7 p.m.
Tickets will be available to the general public for $30 and must be purchased in advance no later than June 1st. More information can be found in early April on the district website www.rsu39.org including biographies for the inductees.
