BANGOR, Maine — A Presque Isle man was sentenced Thursday at federal court in Bangor for methamphetamine trafficking.
Zane Willhide, 25, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker to 10 years in prison and five years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney Darcie McElwee.
Willhide was part of a conspiracy that obtained methamphetamine in western and southern states from Mexican sources from about July 2018 to May 2019, court records said.
The group distributed the drugs in Aroostook County as well as other locations in northern and central Maine, court documents said.
Local and state law enforcement agencies worked with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations on the case, McElwee said.
This effort was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces operation, which works to identify and dismantle high-level criminal organizations that threaten the country.
