STACYVILLE, Maine – Katahdin High School Principal  Shelley Lane has announced that senior Emily Beyer of Mount Chase has been selected to receive the school’s 2022 Principal’s Award.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, leadership, and citizenship.

“Throughout her years at Katahdin High School, Emily has distinguished herself in the classroom,” Lane said.

As well as being a member of the National Honor Society, student council, and class president, Beyer has enjoyed playing sports and has been a three-time award winner of the All-Aroostook award in soccer. She was also awarded the Aroostook League Scholar Athlete.

She is the daughter of Chris and Jetta Beyer.

Beyer and other award winners will participate in a virtual drawing on April 1 for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship.  There will be ten scholarships drawn.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
