MARS HILL, Maine — Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School Principal Dr. Kay York has announced Olivia Blackstone as the recipient of the 2022 Principal’s Award.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, leadership, and citizenship.
“Throughout high school, Olivia has shown tremendous growth, striving to do her best academically and in her extracurricular activities, including sports and school committees,” York said.
Blackstone has earned numerous academic honors and awards for various classes and has earned highest honors throughout her high school career. She is a member of the National Honor Society and currently serves as the local National Honor Society vice president. She is also president of the Student Council this year.
Blackstone has served her community by working with children at a local daycare and volunteering at junior high sporting activities, York said. She has played soccer throughout high school and is also a part of the yearbook team this year.
The MPA held a live virtual scholarship drawing on April 1 for one of ten $1,000 scholarships.
“While Olivia’s name was not drawn, we are very proud of her,” York said. “Olivia will receive a plaque and pin at graduation, to commemorate this award.”
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
