It looks like another exciting summer in the Star City this year. All of the fun-filled festivals and events will be back and hopefully some new ones, too.
First Friday Art Walk continues around the city on the first Friday of every month, now with new locations such as the Aroostook Agency on Aging. The Fiddlehead Fest will be back for its second year in May, accompanied by the kick-off of the bi-weekly summer concert series and the opening of Presque Isle’s Farmers’ Market, which is held every Saturday into October.
Presque Isle Historical Society’s jam-packed tour and event season also kicks off with the Narrated City-Wide Historic Tour aboard Molly the Trolley on May 7, which is just one of numerous society tours offered on a regular recurring monthly basis. And don’t miss the Presque Isle Civil War Trails Tour aboard the trolley on Memorial Day.
June brings the season’s opening of the Maysville Museum, the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce’s Strawberry Shortcake Festival, and the ever popular City-Wide Yard Sale.
In July, we add other special events such as annual reading of the Declaration of Independence at the James School and the Elks’ wonderful 4th of July celebration, which will be added to this year by the City with fireworks and a special concert by Star City Syndicate.
August in the Star City just wouldn’t be the same without the Northern Maine Fair and the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest. And, for the last month of summer, September brings us the Amazing Mystery History Tour and the 2nd Annual Heritage Days at the museum, which showcases old-time pioneer skills.
