PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Northern Maine Flying Club, in partnership with Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 736, will provide Young Eagle flights on May 28.
These flights are intended to provide youth ages 8-17 with their first airplane rides free of charge. Flights, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Presque Isle International Airport’s General Aviation Terminal, 1030 Airport Dr.
The rain date is May 29.
“Many pilots trace the inspiration to become a pilot to their first couple of flights,” said Todd Sprague, operations manager of Northern Maine Flying Club. “We hope to spark a child’s imagination with this experience. It would not be unexpected for some to choose aviation as a career as a result of this.”
Young Eagle Flights is the only program of its kind and has one mission: to inspire kids in the world of aviation. Since its beginning in 1992, more than two million youth have enjoyed a free introductory flight through the Young Eagle program.
Young Eagle flights are made possible through the generosity of Experimental Aircraft Association members. These pilots volunteer their time, their aircraft and their experience to provide youth an unforgettable experience.
In addition to the flights, there will be aviation displays, games, prizes, and food vendors present.
Northern Maine Flying Club formed in 2021 and is composed of pilots and community members working together to make aviation accessible for the local community.
