NEW SWEDEN and STOCKHOLM, Maine — The towns of Stockholm and New Sweden will hold their annual elections and town meetings in mid-June.
Stockholm elections will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Stockholm Community Center, 62 School St. The town will hold its annual meeting in the community center the following evening at 7 p.m.
Johnny Whitson is running unopposed for a three-year term on the town’s selectboard, which has only one vacancy. Whitson is not currently on the selectboard.
Residents will also elect a town representative to the RSU 39 school board, which Stockholm is part of. Current board member Lindsey Theriault is running unopposed for that seat.
New Sweden will hold its election on June 14. Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the town office, at 50 Station Road. The town’s annual meeting will occur at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in the town office.
Selectboard incumbent Sven Bondeson is running for another three-year term. Donald Cote is also on the ballot.
The town has a one-year term available on the selectboard. Since there are no candidates, residents will vote through a write-in ballot.
Current school committee member Laurie Spooner is running unopposed.
Both New Sweden and Stockholm indicated that their budget warrants will be available at their town offices seven days prior to the town meetings.
