SHERMAN, Maine — A Patten man is facing multiple charges in connection with two burglaries in the Sherman and Patten area.
Braydon Grant, 19, of Patten was charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft and possession of drugs stemming from the two burglaries, which took place around July 12.
The Maine State Police were called to a Patten home around 7:30 a.m. on July 12, when the homeowner reported the theft of multiple tools and other items from the residence. Through his investigation, Trooper Hunter Cotton was able to identify a suspect in the theft.
When the trooper went to confront the suspect, they found Grant asleep inside the vehicle that had been seen at the victim’s residence. Cotton was familiar with the man and was aware he had multiple active arrest warrants.
During his interview of the person, Cotton noticed suspected drugs inside the vehicle, as well as multiple tools that were reported missing both inside the vehicle and on the front lawn of Grant’s property.
A search warrant was obtained to search Grant’s property and inside the residence police recovered more than $2,000 in stolen tools and other items.
Additionally, a Patten juvenile involved with the burglaries was summoned for Class C burglary and theft and released to a family member.
The next day, a camp owner from Massachusetts reported that his camp in Sherman had been burglarized sometime in the past few days. He reported household items, tools and firearms missing from the camp.
Trooper Cotton determined that some of the items had been recovered during the search warrant the previous day. Upon interviewing Grant while in custody at the Aroostook County Jail, additional charges were assessed related to the second burglary.
