CARIBOU, Maine – Cary Medical Center will be hosting two fundraiser events in support of cancer awareness. Cindy Blanchette, director of the Pink Aroostook Program, has coordinated the Annual Pink Aroostook Golf Scramble and the ACS CAN Lights of Hope display.
The eighth annual Pink Aroostook Golf Scramble will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Caribou Country Club. “With the COVID-19 pandemic, we haven’t been able to host the event for a few years. It’s great to be back,” said Blanchette. The event will feature a hole in one prize, sponsored by Griffeth Ford. There will also be other raffles included. All proceeds from this event will benefit Pink Aroostook which is a program that supports breast cancer survivors and helps provide advocacy initiatives throughout Aroostook County.
To register for the Pink Aroostook Scramble, visit https://caribougolf.com/pink-aroostook-golf-scramble/ or call the Caribou Country Club at 207-493-3933. Hole sponsorship is $120, a memorial tribute sign in memory is $50, and the registration fee for a team of four is $100. A golf cart decorating contest will also take place during this event.
In addition to the Pink Aroostook Golf Scramble, Cary will once again be hosting the drive-through Lights of Hope display on Friday, Sept. 23, in honor of the American Cancer Society Cancer Actions Network’s Lights of Hope Across America event. Blanchette said, “The Lights of Hope event is a beautiful tribute to someone who has survived, someone in treatment, someone who has served as a caregiver, or someone who has passed away from cancer.”
The luminaries will be placed lining the driveway of the hospital around 2 p.m., and will light at dusk. To sponsor additional luminaries to be displayed at Cary for $10, or to have a virtual luminary, visit the fundraising page at https://secure.fightcancer.org/site/TR;jsessionid=00000000.app30102a?px=5019501&fr_id=1340&pg=personal&NONCE_TOKEN=502D8DF52CEF972E01FF357FEA5DB5D6.
