BUCKSPORT, Maine — The Houlton football squad continues to look for its first win of the season, following Friday night’s 66-30 loss to Bucksport.
The lengthy bus ride down to the coast did not do the Shires any favors, as the squad found itself down 30-8 by the end of the first quarter.
Shire quarterback Isaiah Ervin completed 5-of-14 passes for 189 and three touchdowns, with two interceptions. Ervin also led the team in rushing, racking up 103 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown.
Kohl Skehan chipped in 25 yards on eight carries, while Wyatt Sanford had 24 yards on four carries; AJ Lewis added 10 yards on two carries; Logan Faggiole had three yards on one carry; and Daniel Clark had one carry for two yards.
Through the air, Bronson Hanning had a strong outing for Houlton as he hauled in five catches for 189 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensively, the Shires were led by Lewis with 7.5 tackles, while Hanning added seven tackles.
Houlton (0-2) amassed 356 yards of total offense, compared to 389 for Bucksport.
