MARS HILL, Maine — The Mars Hill Rotary Club sponsored the 20th annual Alton McQuade Mars Hill Open Aug. 13 and 14 at the Mars Hill Country Club.
More than 100 players enjoyed the warm weather, beautiful scenery as they went around the course, and renewing or making new friends.
Rotary members acknowledged the efforts of the Mars Hill Country Club staff in preparing the course and assisting with the scoring. The club also extended their heartfelt appreciation to Harry Orser for his efforts to organize the tournament and provide assistance during the event.
Adam Metzler from Mars Hill was the overall winner. The following golfers won in their divisions:
FIRST DIVISION: 1st gross, Lance Bernier; 2nd gross, Ralph Michaud; 3rd gross, Phil Pelletier. 1st net, Reynold Brow; 2nd net, Josh Briere; 3rd net, Mike Vanadestine.
SECOND DIVISION: 1st gross, Dawson Watson; 2nd gross, Kyle Grooms; 3rd gross, Craig Allen. 1st net, Sam Townsend; 2nd net, Nathan Straetz; 3rd net, Justin Bubar.
THIRD DIVISION: 1st gross, Dennis Anderson; 2nd gross, Dave Nadeau; 3rd gross, Ron Morin. 1st net, Glen Mahan; 2nd net, Kevin Higgins; 3rd net, Scott Foinsbee.
SENIORS GROUP ONE: 1st gross, Ken Dimic; 2nd gross, Dan Hotham; 3rd gross, Hiram Towle; 4th gross, Dale Foinsbee. 1st net, Bill Crandall; 2nd net, Alan Smith; 3rd net, Phil Pelkey; 4th net, Randy Jackson.
Funds raised will support the many different projects that the Mars Hill Rotary sponsors, which include the Mars Hill Food Cupboard, Aroostook House of Comfort, Project Graduation, Meals on Wheels and scholarships for local graduates.
Next year’s Mars Hill Open will be Aug. 12 and 13, 2023.
