PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A New Sweden artist will show some of her works at Aroostook Agency on Aging during the month of October.
Tammy Dube’s month-long Artists for Aging exhibit opens Friday, Oct. 7 in time for Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk which brings together events from various venues including Wintergreen Arts Center, Reed Gallery at the University of Maine, The Common Gallery, and the Akeley Gallery at the Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library.
The artist will be in the 260 Main Street gallery to discuss her work with community members from 5-7 p.m. during the Art Walk. Otherwise, the public may visit the Agency on Aging gallery anytime during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dube is a pastel and oil painter with no limitations to one subject. The Guerette native specializes in pet and people portraits, show cars, and landscapes. While living In central Maine, she was a pastel and oil pet portrait artist and taught children’s pastel classes. She frequently displayed her artwork at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Since moving back to Aroostook County in 2013, Dube’s first art show was called “Rebirth” held at Northern Maine Community College. She also showed her work at the Mark and the Presque Isle public library and a virtual show at Wintergreen Arts Center in Presque Isle where she has taught a pet portrait class. She also won the Aroostook County Maine Reunited competition with her “Picking Fiddleheads” oil painting.
