PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Public Works Department has announced leaf pickup for 2022 is now done and residents should not rake any more leaves onto the streets.
The department is aware that there are more leaves to pick up, but the machine used in the process has become inoperable. Parts are currently not available, in part due to supply chain issues.
The breakdown was due to age and also unacceptable items being placed in some leaf piles, public works officials said. If a machine can be borrowed from a neighboring community, some of the larger leaf piles will be cleaned up, weather permitting.
