FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — A head-on crash Monday afternoon in Fort Fairfield sent both drivers to the hospital with what were reported to be non-life-threatening injuries.
At around 3 p.m. on Dec. 19, Fort Fairfield police and Chief Matthew Cummings were called to a site near 542 Limestone Rd. where two vehicles had collided head-on.
Connie Franz, 65, of Fort Fairfield was northbound on Limestone Road when her 2010 Honda was struck by a 2021 Nissan, driven by Nicole Carney, 36, also of Fort Fairfield, Cummings said.
Officers and passing motorists aided the drivers until Fort Fairfield Fire and Rescue arrived.
Firefighters and paramedics removed Carney from her vehicle and transported her to Cary Medical Center in Caribou. Caribou Fire and Ambulance personnel transported Franz to Cary, the chief said.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and their air bags deployed. There were no passengers in either vehicle, Cummings said.
The vehicles incurred extensive damage and were towed away.
Fort Fairfield Police Officer Isaac Wipperman is investigating the cause of the crash.
