Towing professionals earn national honors

CARIBOU, Maine — Mark Nadeau and his son, Mike Nadeau, of Mark’s Towing Service in Caribou, were both recently inducted into the Order of Towman by American Towman Magazine.

The Cross of the Order, a Maltese cross with a unique towing icon sculpted inside, is awarded to a towing professional for his or her dedication to the trade and for serving the community.

Both men were nominated for the honor by Caribou Fire and Ambulance personnel.

The cross depicts a hand pulling back an arrow from a bow. The bottom of the bow is in the shape of a tow hook being grabbed by another hand. Beside it is a Latin inscription, “Intendo fidelis,” or “Aim true.”

On receiving the cross, the Nadeaus entered into The Towman Order, an elite organization of towing professionals nationwide. Each was recognized for his dedicated service to the community, and in the ceremony they took an oath to continue that dedication and support for Caribou.

Much of their work involves crash-related tows dispatched by municipal police and fire departments.

The Nadeaus received the honor on Nov. 18 during the 33rd annual American Towman Exposition in Baltimore, Maryland. The award is sanctioned by the magazine.
