41st annual Elks Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner

HOULTON, Maine – Despite inclement weather, members of the Houlton Lodge of Elks No. 835 welcomed local senior citizens for a special dinner Sunday, Dec. 18.

The event is a time-honored tradition that has returned after a two-year hiatus caused by COVID-19. Members of the Houlton Lodge of Elks were glad to be able to go back to normal and see the dining room filled with smiling faces, fine food and camaraderie.

“It was amazing to see so many of our local senior citizens attend this event despite the weather, I was able to personally speak with many of them and they were so grateful for this event and the chance to come back into the Lodge to dine and see others.” said Elizabeth Grant, Exalted Ruler for the Houlton Lodge of Elks.

At this year’s event the Houlton Lodge of Elks served between 400 to 500 roast turkey dinners with mashed potato, stuffing, peas, carrots, gravy and rolls along with pie for dessert. Each item is prepared from scratch and would not be possible without the generous donations from local business and the many volunteers.
