PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A benefit concert raised more than $5,000 for the Aroostook House of Comfort.
Local band Star City Syndicate performed on Saturday, Jan. 7, in an event that netted more than $5,200 for the House of Comfort in Presque Isle.
Star City Syndicate is a group of Maine-based musicians with diverse backgrounds who come together to celebrate the sounds of the past, from Motown and classic pop, to more contemporary music.
The Aroostook Hospice Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization and owner of the Aroostook House of Comfort, is thankful to have been chosen as the recipient of this event and for the support of the community, officials said. Local businesses and the Washburn Rotary Club sponsored the concert.
Donors make it possible to maintain a 9,800-square-foot state-of-the-art facility where individuals and families receive compassionate care, comfort and support on their journey through hospice. Funds raised also assist with expenses associated with care received while at the Aroostook House of Comfort for those underinsured, uninsured or without financial resources through the charity care program.
Fundraising efforts include private donations, naming opportunities, grants and additional local events such as the annual Golf Classic and the Remembrance Way Garden & Pathway memorial service.
