The trouble is not in your set — Another snag has been hit in the town of Madawaska’s continuing efforts to provide channels 2 and 7 for local television viewers. Apparently, there is a possibility that the Van Buren tower that would relay the signals to Madawaska’s tower is about 75 feet too short.
Madawaska town manager Louis Cyr received a communication last week from Tom Hingson, the microwave administrator for Teleprompter, stating that in his opinion there were “potential defects in the microwave path engineering” carried out by Maine Microwave.
25 Years Ago — Jan. 28, 1998
All about ployes — Alban Bouchard of Fort Kent was guest speaker at the Fort Kent Lions Jan. 20, 1998, meeting at Sirois restaurant. Bouchard talked about his ploye mix, which is sold all over the United States and to a few customers in Europe. The adventure for the Bouchard family started over 12 years ago and is rapidly growing. The Bouchards do a lot of shows in Maine and other New England states, and their product is sold in a number of big stores.

Nice catch — Noah Deprey showed off a salmon he caught on a Saturday afternoon in January of 2013, while ice fishing on Long Lake. The 6-year old from Madawaska was out with his father Nick and his uncle Matt Deprey, who is from Fort Kent. The 8th Annual Long Lake Ice Fishing Derby took place that weekend. Anglers tried their luck on Long, Cross, St. Froid, Square, Eagle, Glazier and Beau lakes.
