ASHLAND, Maine — A 29-year-old Ashland man has been charged with arson in a residential trailer fire.
Ashland police arrested Brandon Saucier, 29, late Wednesday night on the Realty Road, according to Shannon Moss, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson.
Police acted on a warrant from the state fire marshal’s office, whose investigators determined the fire had been deliberately set. Saucier was also charged with criminal mischief and theft, Moss said.
The fire broke out at around 11:48 a.m. Wednesday at 53 Presque Isle Road in Ashland. Crews from the Ashland Fire Department were joined by Masardis and Portage firefighters to fight the blaze.
The fire was out by around 1 p.m., said Cyr Martin, Ashland town manager and police chief.
No injuries were reported.
The fire mostly damaged the porch and roof and did not advance into the trailer, according to Martin. The unoccupied property belongs to a relative of Saucier’s, he said.
Saucier is currently being held at Aroostook County Jail. A court date has not yet been set.
