CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou Tech is pleased to announce Chase Hobbs as the Career & Technical Education Student of the Year for 2023. Chase is the son of Craig and Crystal Hobbs and a senior at Washburn District High School.
Chase is a second-year CTE student that has completed his commercial driver’s license and is currently enrolled in the large equipment maintenance & operation program. His high school career accomplishments include being AED, CPR, First Aid and OSHA 10 certified as well as the president of the Washburn National Honor Society and treasurer for the Class of 2023. Chase has also been accepted into the auto body program at Northern Maine Community College.
One of Chase’s greatest qualities is his high level of maturity which is on display each and every day. Chase is a student who has proven himself to be not only reliable by having excellent attendance, but also trustworthy, respectful, and courteous as well. Chase shows up each day with a great attitude, work ethic and genuine excitement to learn. Chase has demonstrated his ability to lead through peer teaching his fellow classmates and giving them a hand regardless of the situation. No matter the task at hand, if Chase sees something that needs to be done he follows through and does it whether he’s asked to or not.
Chase is a very hard worker in class and also maintains a part time job while going to school. Besides working nights and weekends at his part time job, Chase also works endlessly in his family’s business ventures. Sometimes he works most of the night yet he still shows up for class each day eager and ready to learn.
