MADAWASKA LAKE TWP, Maine – North Lakes Fire & Rescue recognized two local businesses on April 19, making them honorary members of the department.
Mark’s Towing from Caribou was recognized for their consistent support of the department by towing junk cars up to Cross Lake and back just so firefighters can practice extrication techniques. “Mark and Mike never tell us no. Whatever we need, they are always there to support our mission preparing for vehicle crashes,” Fire Chief Darren Woods said.
180 Sealcoating from Caribou and Cross Lake was also recognized. Jim Gamage and his son Noah have been helping since they moved to the area. Before department members even knew who was doing it, members noticed that someone was going to the station and shoveling it out after each snowfall. They found out that it was Jim and Noah just doing what they could to help the community, said Woods.

North Lakes firefighters met last month and decided to offer these individuals and businesses honorary memberships with the department. While honorary members do not respond to incidents, they are considered valuable members of the department.
We wanted to do something to recognize these folks for all they do for us and for the region. They are true examples of how we should all try to think, looking out for our neighbors.
The North Lakes Fire & Rescue Department covers the areas of Sinclair, Cross Lake, Square Lake, Madawaska Lake, and Westmanland.
