County Village Estates flower gardens get a helping hand

Gardening is nothing new to Bob Landry. He has gardening in his blood.

He recently visited Country Village Estates in Madawaska to help revitalize the flower gardens.

“We greatly appreciate Bob coming to volunteer his time, knowledge, and assisting us in our project of redoing the flower gardens,” said Paula Gendreau, activity director at the facility.

Bob Landry’s family owned the Landry Flower Garden on Long Lake in St. Agatha. The display and family business was a popular destination for more than 25 years for customers and sightseers, according to an article Irma Landry wrote in the County Crossroads, a now defunct local news publication.

Arthur “Babe” and Irma Landry put their hearts and souls into The Landry Flower Garden, and their six children helped make this dream come true. Even as adults, they would still go give their parents a hand.

Mme. Irma Landry was a resident at Country Village Estates for only a short time, but she won all the staff’s hearts, Gendreau said. The Landry family was supportive of the facility, especially the activity department.

“Just goes to show that once you become part of the Country Village Estates family, it is a lifelong relationship that doesn’t end because their loved ones are no longer here,” Gendreau said.
