WOODLAND, Maine — Woodland residents voted to postpone the monthly Select Board meeting to next Tuesday after most of the board and town office staff could not attend.
Board Chair Harold Tardy explained to a crowd of more than 50 Tuesday evening that Town Administrator Vicki Page was in the hospital due to a medical emergency. Select Board member Thomas Drew was dealing with vehicle mechanical issues, Tardy said.
Tardy and Select Board member Kathy Ouellette did not learn of Drew’s likely absence until 5 p.m.,Tardy said. The meeting was set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Even if the meeting proceeded, the board would only be able to discuss part of the agenda. Page had information that was important for that night’s discussions, Tardy said, and he was hesitant to move forward without Drew.
“I prefer to have a full board present [for the meeting],” Tardy said.
The Select Board was set to discuss office staff job descriptions, sign payroll warrants, hold a question and answer period for residents and go into executive session to discuss a tax abatement, according to the Sept. 19 agenda on the town’s website.
The majority of residents voted to postpone the meeting. It will now be held at 5:30 p.m.Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the town garage, at 843 Woodland Center Road.
