PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Versant Power will hold an Energy Literacy Day event in partnership with the Aroostook Agency on Aging on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 9-11 a.m. at the Aroostook Agency on Aging at 260 Main St. in Presque Isle.
The event will include a one-hour presentation and Q&A session with information about understanding electricity bills, rate changes, and more. Versant Power representatives will be available to answer questions following the presentation. A representative from the Aroostook County Action Program will be present to answer questions about assistance programs and materials will be available from Efficiency Maine.
According to Judy Anderson, director of community and volunteer services at the Aroostook Agency on Aging, the informational session will help residents better understand what their electric bills mean, so they can start to make smarter decisions that could save money on future energy costs.
“Older people or their family caregivers often reach out to our Agency to help them understand important and sometimes complex topics. We work with community partners like Versant Power to answer questions, connect them to resources, or assist them with applications for services,” Anderson said.
“We understand that energy affordability is a concern for all customers, but most notably for our aging population. Our hope is to connect with customers to help them understand our business a little better, and provide awareness of the resources available from Versant and our community partners,” said Lisa Henaghen, billing and payment manager at Versant Power.
To RSVP to the event, please call the Aroostook Agency on Aging at 207-764-3396 or email events@aroostookaging.org. Attendees without an RSVP are welcome if space permits.
