To the editor:
I wanted to give a heartfelt “Thank you” to The Cary Medical Center hematology/oncology team. Instead of feeling in the way and being brushed aside while a treatment is hurriedly administered, which is what I have experienced at other healthcare facilities while I accompanied my loved one to their treatment, the Cary Medical Center hematology/oncology team made me feel special and cared for while they took care of my loved one.
You are not just the next infusion or treatment; you are given one-to-one interaction with respect and consideration. I was expecting to be the ‘“go-fer,” but when my loved one was cold the nurse quickly fetched a warm blanket. The team created a calm environment, asking everyone if anything was needed, offering to go and get what was needed, remembering returning patients receiving treatments, talking with everyone in a kind and caring manner.
Nurses and nursing staff, I want to acknowledge you for your efforts and your focus on the patient.
