Loring auto class completes ASE certifications

LIMESTONE, Maine — On October 27 members of the Auto Advisory and Workforce Industry Council Kip Griffin of Griffin Auto, Bruce Dickenson of Advance Auto and Ron O’Brien from Washington County Community College met with Loring Job Corps Center Automotive Instructor Charles Ketch, Loring automotive students and the Career Technical Training Manager Kevin Quist to review all core requirements to provide ASE certifications for the automotive repair trade.

During this extensive review process industry council members from all automotive sectors spend the course of the entire day reviewing and accessing all written curriculum plans/hands-on training platforms, training and achievement records for tracking all module credentials for students’ portfolios. In addition to the paperwork and training curriculum reviews the team also looked at the entire automotive training shop to ensure all tools and equipment met the most up to date requirements as outlined in the ASE credentialing. The council was impressed with the entire program and indicated they were taking some of the hands-on training lessons to additional career training enterprises as they felt it was some definite best practices that should be shared. The ASE requirements were overwhelming in support of approval and the center leadership also spent some time with the group after a lunch with staff and students to thank each member of the council for giving up their day and ensuring that our training programs are the best available for our automotive students.

The team also received an overview welcome and informational briefing from the Work Based Learning Coordinator Marrisa Kieser and Business Engagement Coordinator Roger Felix.

The next auto council meeting is tentatively set for February 9, 2024.
