The Mapleton Daze Committee announced their “elves” will host their annual holiday shopping event for the area kids.
Parents or grandparents may bring youngsters to the Mapleton Elementary School on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon, where they can do some holiday shopping for their families.
There will be items on display for them to choose from that range from 50 cents to under $5. The Mapleton Daze elves will be on hand to help the little ones shop and select presents for the family. Once purchases have been made, the elves will help them wrap their purchases at a wrapping station that will be available free of charge.
While kids wait for their turn to shop, the elves will offer free activities. Santa Claus will also make an appearance so they can chat with him and let him know what they would like for Christmas. Photos can also be taken with Santa.
The Mapleton Daze elves are asking for the community’s help for local schoolchildren by bringing school supplies to donate to Mapleton Elementary School. A box will be set up in the entryway to accept any school supply donations that folks can spare.
The elves are looking forward to seeing kids and families at this fun event. Help spread the word by telling your family and friends.
The elves welcome anyone who would like to help them by being an elf for the day. They need lots of hands. Please message Lynnelle Foster or Laurie Boucher through the Mapleton Daze Facebook page.
High school students may also help out. This is a terrific, fun way to get some of their volunteer hours for graduation.
