Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum dedicates barn addition

Friends and family gathered at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum recently to dedicate an addition to the Carl and Helen Hagan Barn.

This addition is named for George S. Smith of New Limerick, who was an active volunteer at the museum for many years.

The museum directors received a sum of money from the Smith estate and were able to use that to secure funding from U.S. Rural Development to construct the addition this past summer.

Matthew Bolstridge built the structure, with Alan Dow completing the electrical piece. The barn will house a variety of farming equipment.

Several members of Smith’s family attended the dedication, at which a sign was unveiled that will be displayed on the building.

Attending were Milliard and Kim Wright, Justin Smith, Nicole Wright, Alan Wright, Jetta Woodworth, Tiffany Smith, Leone Gray-Sanford, Jeff Wheeler, Brylan Wright, Braxtyn Wright, Kane Woodworth, Corey Woodworth and Samuel Woodworth.
