FORT KENT, Maine – The University of Maine at Fort Kent Board of Visitors is encouraging the public to attend a Business Breakfast that will take place on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:30 a.m. in the Nadeau Hall conference room on the UMFK campus.

The topic of discussion is:  “L’Acadie de la Vallée: A Hybrid Borderland Community.” This discussion will be led by Patrick Lacroix, director of the Acadian Archives. This talk provides an overview of the history that has made the St John Valley so distinctive from a cultural and economic standpoint. It also provides a glimpse of the institutional network that aims to preserve and celebrate the French heritage of the region. For more than 30 years, the Acadian Archives have served as a keystone of that network. The preservation will address the challenges the Archives have navigated in telling the region’s distinctive story.

Tickets for the breakfast are $12 and can be purchased by credit card at https://www.umfk.edu/business-breakfast/. Deadline for registration is Monday, April 1.
