FRENCHVILLE, Maine — Aroostook County Tourism will host the 2024 Aroostook County Tourism  Summit on Wednesday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Frenchville Community Center, with a focus on  growing tourism collaboratively using our unique natural resources.

“Visitation to Aroostook County is an economic engine that in 2023 had an impact of $255,058,200 to the region. That is a 3.5 percent increase from 2022 and a trend we want to sustain,” said Jacob Pelkey, tourism developer for Northern Maine Development Commission. “The summit will bring the Maine Office of Tourism and ATV Maine’s leadership to the event in person and allow businesses and trail masters time to connect and share their excitement  and suggestions for promoting the region’s visitor experience. I also would like to engage the business owners of  Aroostook to amplify their marketing message by showing them how to use the new visitaroostook.com and destination assets like the St John Valley/Fish River National Scenic Byway to showcase themselves to a greater audience.”

The summit serves as an opportunity for the industry to come together, network, and create a unified marketing message to reach potential visitors. According to the Maine Office of Tourism 332,400 individuals visited The County, a number that was 17.5 percent higher than 2022.

“Tourism is a key driver of Maine’s economy,” said Pelkey. “When tourism works, Maine works. Its powerful impact flows to the farthest reaches of the state’s eight tourism regions, creating thousands of needed jobs, contributing billions in tax revenue, and improving the quality of life for residents throughout the state.”

This event  is organized by Aroostook County Tourism and the Maine Office of Tourism.
