I have never told you about my rescued fur baby Sadie Grace, my little Yorkie-poo. Sadie is 11 years old and we have had her seven years. She was a rescue from the dog groomer we had at that time.
Sadie is the best little dog; she is very attached to my husband. She and our dog Ollie get along — she is the boss of him and tries to teach him everything she knows, because her teacher was Odie, and he taught her everything.
Sadie Grace is my little angel. I always say she was a little angel from heaven, came down to bless this household. She loves her squeaky toys and she is an outdoor zoomer. Sadie is not much for treats except for Jack Links jerky. That’s her favorite. She loves her homemade food, chicken, liver, veggies and rice.
Sadie loves to go on adventures, especially to the woods. You don’t have to leash her because she stays right by her “hooman,” which is her dad. She loves to run around and smell everything and everywhere, and roll around in whatever bad smell she can find. If she can discover a dead fish or any animal poo, then her fun begins. And burdocks — if they are around, she will find them. However, she hates when it’s time to pull them out of her fur.
Sadie is such a sweet little dog. She loves everybody, loves to give kisses and if you aren’t paying attention, you may get a French kiss from her. She loves to lay on my husband’s chest when he is in his recliner. She will crawl up on his chest and look at him as he starts talking to her. Her little tail will go a mile a minute and she will start batting her front paws on his chest.
On more than a couple of occasions, her busy little paws have hit the remote control and changed the channel on the TV. My husband said, “You changed the channel on me,” and she kept batting those tiny paws and I swore I saw her smiling.
She also has quite the wardrobe. Sadie loves her sweaters. When I go to take one off, she growls at me because she wants it left on.
Sadie Grace is a tiny 7.8 pounds, and she loves to ride in the truck and look out the window. My husband made a special seat for her out of rubber mats, and it fits on the truck console with a nice blanket on it. This is her favorite spot to look out the front window. Sometimes she makes a whimper sound, and that means she wants to see out the side window with the window down in her dad’s lap. My husband will say, “Come on, I’ll roll the window down.” She will put her front paws on the window and look out, but before long, she is back on her blanket.
She used to ride with Odie on the seat when he was with us. Those two were the best of buds. Now, Ollie is a bit too big for the console seat. He usually rides in the passenger seat, or on me if I am with them.
That’s a little about our Sadie Grace. She is a joy to have. I am thankful I was there when she needed a home.
