DYER BROOK, maine — Southern Aroostook High School Class of 2024 members graduating with honors:

Summa Cum Laude (3.75-4.00): Cami Shields

Magna Cum Laude(3.40-3.74): Krisalyn Booker, Dylan Burpee, Tristen Hardy, Destin Joiner, Bridger Noyes, Bailey Vose, Caleb Walker

Cami Shields is an active member of the National Honor Society and will graduate with honors in June. Cami currently serves as class president of the Class of 2024. Cami is a member of TRIO, has served on the Prom Committee, and is a member of the So. Aroostook Scholarship Fund. Cami attended the HOBY Youth Leadership Conference, and was selected to represent So. Aroostook High School at Dirigo State, was selected as a Heisman High School Scholarship Award Winner, will graduate with honors in the top 5 percent of her class, and was recently named the So. Aroostook High School recipient of the Maine Principal’s Award.      

Cami has participated in varsity soccer and served as team captain during her senior season, earning All-Aroostook honors twice. Cami has played varsity basketball for five seasons serving as team captain this past season. She has been a member of four regional championship teams and three state championship teams. She earned All-Aroostook honors three times, All-Tournament honors twice, 2024 Class D Tournament MVP, was selected to the Bangor Daily Al-State 3rd team, MABC & Aroostook Senior All-Star honors, and scored over 1,000 career points. Cami also has played varsity softball for four seasons earning All-Aroostook honors.  

Cami is active in the community through volunteer projects such as volunteering at the So. Aroostook Food Pantry, officiating youth basketball games, volunteering at children’s church and the nursery at Bethel Pentecostal Church in Oakfield, volunteering at SACS Hoop Camp and has received Special Olympics Mentor Training.   

Cami works part-time at Madigan Estates in Houlton. Cami has been accepted at Husson University in the fall to pursue a degree in nursing. Cami is the daughter of Jordan & Olivia Shields.

Krisalyn Booker is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and will graduate with honors in June. Krisalyn participated in the Early Childhood Program and SkillsUSA at the Region Two School of Applied Technology in Houlton. While attending Region Two, Krisalyn earned certifications in OSHA 10, FirstAid/CPR, Bus Monitor Certification & Everfi.

Krisalyn served as a manager for the varsity boys soccer team and also for the So. Aroostook Band. Krisalyn has volunteered at the Southern Aroostook Community Service Day, at the SACS Food Pantry, videoed band and music concerts, volunteered for eclipse activities, volunteered for Animal rescue (CatLifeMaine) and volunteered at children’s ministry at Calvary Chapel of Southern Aroostook. Krisalyn’s future plans are to attend the University of Maine at Farmington for early childhood special education. Krisalyn is the daughter of Pam Smith & Shane Booker.

Dylan Burpee

Dylan Burpee is an active member of the National Honor Society and will graduate with honors in June. Dylan currently serves on the Student Council. Dylan is also a member of TRIO and is a member of the So. Aroostook Scholarship Fund. Dylan was selected as a Heisman High School Scholarship Award winner and was also selected as a Aroostook League Scholar/Athlete Award winner. 

Dylan played varsity basketball for five seasons serving as team captain this past season. He has been a member of two regional championship teams and two state championship teams.  He earned All-Aroostook honors three times, All-Tournament honors three times, and was selected as 2023 Class D Tournament MVP. Dylan was also selected as a 2024 Mr Maine Basketball semifinalist, a MABC & Aroostook Senior All-Star and scored over 1,000 career points.   

Dylan is active in the community through volunteer projects such as volunteering at SACS Hoop Camp, volunteering at Bethel Church in Oakfield, assisting in loading of coal into furnaces, volunteering at the Southern Aroostook Community Service Day and also volunteering at the monthly Good Shepherd So. Aroostook School Food Pantry.   

Dylan has been accepted at Husson University. Dylan will also be continuing his basketball career and will be playing for the Husson men’s team.  Dylan is the son of Matt & Janet Burpee. 

Tristen Hardy

Tristen Hardy is an active member of the National Honor Society and will graduate with honors in June. Tristen is a member of the So. Aroostook Student Council, is a member of the Drama Club, has served on the Prom Committee, has served on the Yearbook Committee and is a member of the So. Aroostook Scholarship Fund. Tristen was also selected to attend the Maine Youth Leadership conference as a sophomore.     

Tristen has also been active in the Southern Aroostook School Band, playing the trumpet, saxophone, piano, percussion, while earning All-Aroostook honors. Tristan also plays on the worship team at Bethel Church Oakfield and plays the drums. 

Tristen is active in the community through volunteer projects such as volunteering at the So. Aroostook Food Pantry, the So. Aroostook Community Service Day, and also helping to plant flowers and clean-up in the community. 

Tristen worked at Brookside Inn in Smyrna and now works at Madigan Estates in Houlton as a floor aide.  Tristen has been accepted at Husson University and will pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing and his future plans are to work as a forensic or trauma nurse. Tristen is the son of Kirby & Melanie Hardy. 

Destin Joiner

Destin Joiner is an active member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society and will graduate with honors in June. Destin participated in the Culinary Program at the Region Two School of Applied Technology in Houlton. Prior to attending So. Aroostook High School, Destin earned a Gold Medal at a State Competition for FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) Star Event New Member Facts, a Silver for FCCLA(Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) Star Event Sustainability Challenge, 

Destin has been active in band for six years playing percussion. She has played the fourth bass drum, pit (cymbals, tambourines, marimbas, etc.) and since attending So. Aroostook has played the snare drum, bells and vibraphone. Destin has volunteered at the SACS Food Pantry and the SACS Clothing. Destin has also volunteered at a couples dinner at the Dyer Brook Community Church.

Destin currently works part-time at Vacationland Estates Resort in Island Falls. Destin has also previously worked at a steakhouse.Destin’s future plans are to attend Johnson and Wales University for a bachelor’s degree in baking and pastry arts.Following earning her degree, Destin would like to own a bakery. Destin is the daughter of Andrew & Ashley Sheets.

Bridger Noyes

Bridger Noyes will be graduating with honors in June. Bridger is a member of the National Honor Society and has been active in the Drama program. He is a member of the Yearbook committee, has been on the Prom Committee and was selected to attend Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Program. Bridger has been very active in the community, volunteering at the food pantry and community service day planting flowers and cleaning up.

Bridger has worked at Craig’s Clam Shop, Brookside Inn and currently works for Jerry’s Foodstore in Island Falls. Bridger plans to attend Husson University, studying exercise science and physical therapy. Bridger is the son of David and Mandi Noyes.

Bailey Vose

Bailey Vose is an active member of the National Honor Society and will graduate with honors in June.Bailey has served as the National Honor Society vice president as a junior, and the National Honor Society president as a senior. Bailey currently serves as class secretary of the Class of 2024. Bailey is a member of the Drama Club, has served on the Prom Committee and is a member of the So. Aroostook Scholarship Fund. Bailey was selected for Dirigo State as a junior, was selected as a US Youth Senate finalist for Maine, earned the Society of Women Engineers Award, earned excellence in math and science for three consecutive years, and will graduate in the top 5 percent of her class.      

Bailey has participated in varsity softball and is serving as team captain during her senior season. Bailey has also been active in the Southern Aroostook band, playing percussion, earning All-Aroostook Honors five times.  

Bailey is active in the community through volunteer projects such as volunteering at the So. Aroostook Food Pantry, the So. Aroostook Clothing Drive, Special Olympics and reading to students in the elementary school. Bailey enjoys traveling, skiing, baking and spending time with friends and family.  

Bailey works part-time at Craig’s Clam Shop in Patten during the summer and also at Vacationland Estates in Island Falls. Bailey has been accepted at Husson University and will pursue a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration & public health and a master’s degree in occupational therapy. Bailey is the daughter of Ryan and Janet Vose. 

Caleb Walker

Caleb Walker will be graduating with honors in June. Caleb played two years of varsity soccer, serving as a team captain during his senior season. Caleb has been a member of the SACS band, serving as band manager and also has been involved in the Drama Club. Caleb has also participated in a variety of community service projects including volunteering at the SACS Community Service Day and the SACS Clothing Drive. 

Caleb has had several part-time jobs including; working at a Dairy Queen in Rockland, a hardware store in Union, and is currently working at the Dollar General Store in Patten. Caleb plans to enter the workforce following graduation and his plans are to attend a program run by Sargent Construction. Caleb is the son of Kathy Walker.
