David Bartlett, Presque Isle High School principal, has announced that U.S. Sen. Susan Collins will offer the keynote address at this year’s commencement.
Collins is serving in her fifth term in the Senate. She is the first Mainer in more than a century, and only the fourth woman in history, to be elected to the Senate five times.
A native of The County, she is now the vice chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, one of the most powerful positions in the senate.
“We are truly honored to have Senator Susan Collins as the keynote speaker at the Presque Isle High School Class of 2024 graduation,” Bartlett said.
Collins has been consistently recognized for her bipartisanship and her ability to bring people together to solve problems for the people of Maine and America. Last month, she was ranked as the most bipartisan senator for the 9th time in the last 11 years.
Known for her Maine work ethic, she has not missed a single roll call vote throughout her entire service, beginning in 1997. That is more than 9,000 in a row, the longest perfect voting record in senate history.
The 2024 ceremony is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, at the Dr. Gehrig T. Johnson Athletic Complex, weather permitting. A ticket is required.
