The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce has announced enhancements to the upcoming First Friday Art Walk in Presque Isle on June 7.
This event has been elevated thanks to the collaborative efforts of the City of Presque Isle staff, local merchants and chamber committee members who recently convened to brainstorm new ideas.
“The First Friday Art Walk is such a fun event to be enjoyed by all of Aroostook, adults and kids alike. I love to see the collaboration of artists and community that this monthly event creates! Live music, refreshments, friendly faces, a vibe of exploration and adventure, and of course, excellent local art.” said Shelby Pelletier of the Common Gallery.
Six venues will be showcasing artwork created by local artists:
The Common Gallery: Presenting “in/Visible: Portraits of Rural LGBTQ Belonging.” Enjoy live music by Cory Lovejoy, Mickey Carter and Melanie Reese.
Aroostook Agency on Aging: Featuring the works of Tammy Dube of New Sweden.
The Reed Art Gallery: Showcasing “Clutch,” ceramic sculptures by Brianna Gerrish.
Ignite PI: Exhibiting works by Andrea Powers with musical performances by Larry Feinstein.
Elevate Audio & Visual: Offering local art for purchase and live hip hop music.
The Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library: Hosting their first “First Friday Sidewalk,” a walkable pathway of art beginning at the library’s main entrance and ending at the Library House (23 State Street).
Two food trucks, Cheri’s Wiener Wagon and Simply Delicious Food and Treats, will be parked on Main Street through the event.
“We are thrilled to invite everyone to our First Friday Art Walk, a celebration of creativity and local talent,” said Sonja Eyler, Presque Isle librarian. “This event not only showcases the incredible work of our artists but also brings our community together, fostering a vibrant and inclusive cultural atmosphere. Join us as we walk, discover and connect through the power of art.”
Attendees can collect a punch card at any participating location and get it punched at each venue they visit. Completed cards can be submitted at the Northeastland Hotel desk for a chance to win a local art piece donated by one of the featured artists.
