As part of merging landfills with Fort Fairfield, Caribou and Limestone to create Aroostook Waste Solutions, Presque Isle has placed new colored igloos next to City Hall (shown here), near the courthouse on Riverside Drive and at the Presque Isle Landfill that are free and available to the public to dispose of select recyclable materials. Other sets of igloos are available next to the Mapleton Town Office and Washburn Town Office. (Melissa Lizotte)
The recycling igloos and cardboard dumpster currently located along Riverside Drive in Presque Isle will be relocated to 600 Central Drive, across the street from the American Legion.
The igloos will be in place on Monday, July 8, according to city officials.
The new location is 1.2 miles from Riverside and will provide easier in and out access for the public. In addition, there are no overhead utility lines, making it more accessible for the crane truck to empty the igloos.
The recycling igloos and cardboard dumpster currently located behind City Hall will remain in place.
