HOULTON, Maine – Greater Houlton Christian Academy celebrated the school’s four graduates in the 32nd annual commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 2.
“We are excited to see them transition from their high school academic life into the next challenges that the Lord has for them,” head of the school Rob Albers said during the ceremony at the school, “They will be missed around the Academy, but they leave here well prepared for the complexities of life within families, churches, and their communities. “
Three of the graduates, Dawson Anderson, Silas Nadeau and Seth Quint, will be entering the local workforce and Aimon Simoes will be attending Northern Maine Community College.
Both Nadeau and Quint attended the Houlton school for all 13 years of their education.
Commencement speaker Rev. Christopher B. Cain thanked families, teachers and GHCA staff for investing in the next generation.
“It is hard for me to believe this school year has passed already,” Cain said. “I had the honor of being the Bible teacher to our graduates, and I had the privilege of serving alongside them on the mission field. “
Cain said that the best way to honor the graduates is to challenge them with a Biblical mandate that must be carried out for the rest of their lives.
“Let your light shine before men, and do not be a lit candle hidden under anything,” he said to the graduates. “Align your public life to your prayer life. Learn what it means, and what it costs, to stand within the will of God. Burn bright for Christ publicly and unapologetically. Be the Truth but be it in Love.”
He warned the graduates of deception in the world today.
“You gentlemen are my finest disciples, go forth and make disciples of faithful men who will be able to make disciples of others also,” Cain said. “Congratulations and blessings in Christ to each of you.”
