FORT KENT, Maine —Police arrested a 20-year-old Fort Kent man on charges related to the theft of a vehicle and several tools at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, according to Fort Kent Police Chief Michael DeLena.
Preston Soucy was arrested on July 1, police said.
Police received a report that the vehicle went missing early in the morning on June 30. DeLena said they also received reports that several pieces of forestry equipment, including 10 chainsaws, were stolen from a work shed on the university campus.
Throughout the day on July 1, police received reports about a suspicious person showing up at local homes.
The vehicle and tools have been recovered, DeLena said. They also found a firearm, which has been transferred to Maine State Police as part of the investigation, he said.
Soucy was charged with class C burglary, class C theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, class D unauthorized use of property and class E violating conditions of release.
Soucy has since been taken to Aroostook County Jail.
