LIMESTONE, Maine – Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast JR.” is playing at Limestone Community School from Friday, August 9 through Saturday, August 10 at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m on Saturday. The 60-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the 1994 Broadway production and Disney’s 1991 animated feature film. The Broadway Kids in The County cast includes 17 students led by Lilliana Ainsworth.
“‘Beauty and the Beast’ is a Disney classic with a mixture of upbeat numbers and heartfelt ballads that masterfully weave the show together. I have the honor of getting to work with such talented and caring kids to tell a story that has captured the hearts of audiences for decades. It has been a privilege to see these young actors and actresses master their craft over the years. It seems that every time I see them, they have a new level of confidence in their abilities. My goal as a director is to help my actors see their full potential and put on a show that they will look back on with pride. This production is a must see for all ages!,” said Miss Lily, the show’s director and choreographer.
The cast features Grayson Ainsworth, Molly Cairns, Annie Carlow, Troy Celik, Skylaya Darrell, Aiden Etchu Tanyi, Darren Etchu Tanyi, Onora Ferris, Izzy Goodwin, Harleigh Goumas, Wynter Goumas, Mallory Maynard, Marigan Maynard, Harper Pelletier, Maizlyn Picard, Marleia Stevens and Alex Wolfe.
“Beauty and the Beast JR.” tells the story of Belle, an adventurous young girl, and the Beast, her hideous captor who is actually a young prince trapped under a spell. In order to break the spell, the Beast must learn to love another and earn her love in return – before time runs out. With the help of the castle’s enchanted staff, including a loving teapot, a charming candelabra, and a nervous mantel clock, Belle and the Beast find a beautiful friendship and love that neither knew was possible. “Beauty and the Beast JR.” features classic songs from the Academy Award®-winning film score such as “Be Our Guest” and “Belle,” as well as original songs from the 1994 Tony®-nominated Broadway musical.
