St. John Valley weather for Aug. 7-13, 2024

3-Day Outlook: Wed. Aug. 7 – Fri. Aug. 9

Wednesday remains mostly sunny with highs in the low 70s. Overnight, lows drop into the upper 40s/lower 50s with mostly clear skies across the Saint John Valley. Thursday continues with mostly sunny skies as high pressure will be centered over Maine. Clouds increase Thursday night as the remnants of Debby move towards the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast. Highs expected in the mid-70s with overnight lows in the mid-50s.

For Friday, the National Weather Service in Caribou states that “Some uncertainty remains in the exact track of this moisture surge and where any banding of heavy rain may setup, but confidence is growing that moderate to heavy rainfall is expected somewhere in the forecast area late Friday into Friday night.” Highs in the mid-70s with lows in the lower 60s.

4-7 Day Outlook: Sat. Aug. 10 – Tue. Aug. 13

A cold front is expected to push through the Valley Saturday with rain in the morning then showers in the afternoon as moisture from the tropical system is carried east into the Maritimes. There are some factors that may delay the front: primarily, the Bermuda high in the Atlantic may impeded the systems progress keeping tropical moisture over Maine longer.

high pressure briefly builds in Sunday followed by a cold front from the west Sunday night into Monday with a chance of scattered showers and afternoon thunderstorms. Showers are possible overnight into Tuesday with a chance of showers continuing Tuesday along with isolated afternoon thunderstorms.
