The Fort Fairfield Public Library has been selected to receive a 2024 AARP Community Challenge grant.
The library is one of 343 grantees selected out of 3,300-plus applications from across all 50 states, Washington, D.C, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“We are incredibly proud that AARP selected Fort Fairfield Public Library for this investment to make Fort Fairfield more livable for residents of all ages,” said Lynn Cote,. library director.
“AARP is a nationwide leader in making communities more livable and we are honored that they see the tangible value this project will bring to our area,” she said.
With this grant, the library will complete the groundwork for a memorial garden, making it accessible and safe to everyone, including those with mobility issues.
“We will install a gazebo and solar lighting. This will give us a great foundation. The plants, benches and décor will be funded by the many generous contributions of community members, in memory of loved ones,” Cote said.
