LIMESTONE, Maine – A Presque Isle man was seriously injured Sunday after his vehicle struck another in Limestone.

Around 5:32 p.m., Bub Dow, 47, of Presque Isle was driving north in his 2003 Honda Accord on Route 1A when he crossed the centerline near the intersection with Bog Road, hitting a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado head on, according to Aroostook County Sheriff Peter Johnson.

Responders from Limestone Fire Department had to extricate Dow from his vehicle and he was transported to Cary Medical Center in Caribou with serious injuries, Johnson said.

The Silverado driver, 23-year-old Phillip Mills of Rumford, and his passenger, Austin Skidgell, 25, of Carthage, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

That section of Route 1A was temporarily shut down after the accident but has since reopened to traffic, Johnson stated. Maine Department of Transportation, U.S. Border Patrol, Presque Isle Police Department and Caribou Fire & Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash with assistance from a crash reconstructionist from Presque Isle Police.
