PRESQUE ISLE, Maine —The University of Maine at Presque Isle will present Homecoming 2024: Spirit Week + Alumni, Friends, and Family Weekend from Sept. 9-15, featuring sporting events, the Snowy Owl Marketplace, a performance by the County Community Players and much more! Festivities will again include Spirit Week activities, with a different theme each day between Sept. 9 and 13: Blue Day, Gold Day, Major Day, UMPI Sport Day and Memories Day. All are encouraged to post photos on social media and use the “#umpispiritweek2024” hashtag.
On Thursday, September 12, Preble Hall will have an open house from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. UMPI’s annual Convocation event, followed by a BBQ lunch, will take place from 11 a.m to 1:30 p.m. at Gentile Hall. From 2-4 p.m., there will be lawn games and a Spirit Spin at the Campus Center. UMPI Athletics will host a spaghetti supper fundraiser from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Campus Center MPR. There also will be a 50/50 raffle. Cost is $10 per person. That evening, the Student Activities Office will host a Lip Sync Battle at 6:30 p.m. in the Campus Center MPR.
On Friday, September 13, there will be lawn games and a Spirit Spin at the Campus Center from 12-2 p.m. UMPI’s Student Activities Office will host a Punch and Paint event from 2-4 p.m. in the UMPI Clubhouse (Campus Center Room 112). The “UMPI Game” will make its debut from 4-5 p.m. at the Center for Innovative Learning. From 5-7 p.m., nacho bingo will be held in Kelley Commons. Prizes will be available and there will be a full nacho bar. At 5 and 7 p.m., women’s volleyball will host a doubleheader vs. the University of Maine at Fort Kent in Wieden Gym. At 7 p.m., in Wieden Hall, the County Community Players will present “Ride the Cyclone” at the Gauvin Family Center for Cultural Arts. Tickets are $15; free for UMPI students with proper ID. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, September 14, the Snowy Owl Marketplace returns to Gentile Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a full slate of crafters, artisans, and more. An open house will be held at the Zillman Family Greenhouse from 9-11 a.m. and include a petting zoo, a fun family activity for all visitors to enjoy and refreshments. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., there will be Molly the Trolley historical tours across campus, led by tour guide Kimberly Smith. The meeting location is the Gentile Hall parking lot. At the Park Family Field, the UMPI Owls will play Maine Maritime Academy in back to back soccer games — the men’s team plays at 1 p.m., the women’s team at 3:30 p.m. That evening, the Blue and Gold Alumni Awards Dinner takes place in the Campus Center MPR; social starts at 5 p.m., buffet dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 6:45 p.m. There will be a cash bar (21 and older with proper ID). Owl’s Nest and Spirit Store Hours during Homecoming are: Monday-Friday (September 9-13), 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday (September 14), 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
