Inaugural Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame class inducted

WASHBURN, Maine — In a momentous event that honored sporting excellence and camaraderie, the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame conducted its inaugural banquet and induction ceremony on August 17. The evening, graced by 13 distinguished individuals and the pioneering state championship basketball team, resonated with celebration and nostalgic reflections among long-time companions. The event served as a platform to commemorate the remarkable achievements of the honorees, embodying the spirit of Washburn’s rich athletic heritage.

Members of the inaugural Class of 2024 are Trent Cunningham, Jason Thompson, Kim  (Richardson) Worcester, Mckenzie (Worcester) Turner, Greg Sponberg, Joan Overman, Don  (Oldmixion) Dandaneau, Carmen Bragg, Meredith (Hews) Messer, Mitchell Worcester and  Carsyn (Koch) Johnson. Recognized for his outstanding years of coaching Ron Ericson and  posthumously for his years at WDHS and his contributions to athletics, Camille “Doc” Albert.
